Meet Maxine Stowe- Reggae Music Consultant

For over 40 years, Maxine Stowe has been linking Jamaican music with international markets through cultural IP rights and innovative management strategies. Maxine is an activist of African descent whose career has been shaped by significant social causes and moral awareness. Her professional journey began with a focus on Political Science at Barnard University, which was enriched by her involvement in social advocacy and Rastafari community living during the mid to late 1970s, split between New York and Jamaica.

While residing in New York, Maxine kept strong ties to Jamaica and its music scene through her uncle, the late Clement 'Sir Coxsone' Dodd, and the late Lincoln 'Sugar' Minott. She was a part of the influential circles in Jamaican music, working with VP Records, Columbia Records/SONY, Island/Motown/Universal, and Ghetto Youths International/Tuff Gong. An expert in Intellectual Property Rights, she is working on creating a Jamaica Music Museum platform targeted at digital opportunities. Since 2007, she has been actively involved in UNESCO and UN Human Rights initiatives, and beginning in 2010, she has collaborated with the Hon. Bunny Wailer to develop Wail Entertainment, alongside Legacy Music, focusing on Intellectual Property Rights, estate management, and planning. She has been the Vice President of the Ganja Growers and Producers Association since 2014, registering the Rasta Ganja Global company in Jamaica and South Africa in 2015, as well as the Dreamland Solomonic Ganja Franchise in 2019.
